Who doesn’t love raspberry syrup? It’s a beautiful addition to any sweet dish. It adds a pop of color to the plate and its tangy taste perfectly compliments rich creamy dishes. This simple 2 ingredient raspberry syrup will help you add that little something extra to your dishes without any fuss at all.
It’s as easy as 1, 2…
All you need for this recipe is:
- One 18 ounce jar of raspberry jam
- ¼ cup water
Before starting the syrup, consider what consistency you want your syrup to be. For a thicker syrup, use only half the water, for a thinner syrup, use the whole quarter cup. Start by placing the contents of the jam jar into a saucepan, followed by the water. Stir a bit with a spatula to combine before setting on to a medium-low heat.
As the jam warms up it will soften and be easier to mix with the water. Stir continuously to prevent it catching on the bottom of the pan. As soon as it is all combined and reaches your desired consistency, turn off the heat and allow to cool.
What kind of jam should I use?
The choice of using seedless jam or not is entirely up to you. It all depends on the sort of look you are hoping to achieve. If you are looking to add a little crunch to your dish then you may want to use jam that still has seeds in it.
Always try to choose a good quality jam that is made mostly of real fruit and contains very little additives and artificial flavoring. Sometimes the more natural jams can be a little tart but you can always mix in a teaspoon of sugar to counter this if you like.
What Should I serve with Raspberry Syrup?
The list of sweet dishes that simply beg for this raspberry syrup is endless. This sauce pairs naturally with any chocolate flavored dish but can be added to a variety of cheesecakes, ice creams, brownies or pies. Spruce up your breakfasts by serving this velvety syrup with pancakes, waffles or french toast. But why stop at sweet treats? Impress diners by serving chicken breasts or pork tenderloin with a slathering of raspberry syrup.
