At the cooking demonstration Alli shared 3 easy salad dressings that can each be made in a mason jar. She makes all of these recipes for her family and shared how easy they can be, particularly with an Ergo Spout® to serve them.
Salad dressings are super easy to mix in a mason jar. Just place all of the ingredients in a jar, screw on a metal lid and band, and shake to emulsify the ingredients. Alli suggested holding the lid of the jar with a kitchen towel to prevent any unwanted leaks.
The first dressing that Alli shared was a simple lemon salad dressing. This tangy dressing is perfect for simple salads. She used it to dress mixed greens and onion. Use this dressing when you are in a hurry or are looking for a salad without much fuss. You can get the recipe for lemon salad dressing HERE.
The second salad dressing Alli shared was a poppy seed dressing. This was my favorite because it uses honey to add some sweetness. It pairs well with salads that contain fruit and nuts. You can get the recipe for poppy seed salad dressing HERE.
The last dressing Alli shared was a balsamic vinaigrette. This dressing had the richest flavor of the three, and works well with spinach salads and red onion. With the deep flavors of balsamic vinegar, this dressing is sure to impress at any feast. You can get Alli’s Balsamic Vinaigrette recipe HERE.
While making salad dressing in a mason jar is easy, serving it can be a bit messy. No one likes greasy dressing dripping down the side of the jar. That is where the Ergo Spout® shines! The Ergo Spout® allows you to easily serve salad dressings from a mason jar without the mess. Once you are done serving your dressing you can store it in the refrigerator with the Ergo Spout® still on, or if you are looking for a more air tight seal, you can put the lid and band back on.
One of the tips Alli shared is that all three of these dressings can be used as marinades! Just mix the dressing and pour it over your meat of choice to add flavor to any meal. I love that these easy recipes can serve a double purpose.
We are grateful to Alli for including us in her cooking demonstration and sharing these recipes. We hope you’ll check her out at Longbourn Farm.
