This is the maple flavored syrup recipe that inspired the Ergo Spout®. (You can read about how this simple recipe lead to the creation of a unique mason jar attachment here.) It’s simple, economical and delicious! In fact there may not be an easier or more economical way to drown your pancakes in maple deliciousness. You can pour as much syrup as you’d like without having to worry about the price tag of the real stuff. This is one of the reasons this recipe is perfect for kids!
While salt isn’t a strictly necessary ingredient in this recipe, I like to add it for a few reasons. First, salt is a flavor enhancer so it can bring out the other flavors in the syrup. Second, I think a bit of salt can cut the sweetness of the sugar. Last, I just feel fancy when I add a pinch of salt to a dish.
This video will walk you through the steps, so you can use this simple maple flavored syrup recipe on your breakfast table today.

This recipe might be the easiest and most economical way to make maple flavored syrup.
1 c. boiling water
2 c. granulated sugar
1 t. maple flavoring
1 t. vanilla extract
1 pinch of salt
Regular Mouth Mason Jar
Bring water to a boil in a saucepan.
Add other ingredients and turn the head down to low.
