If you’re trying to decide which Ergo Spout® is right for you but aren’t quite sure, we can help you select the right one for your kitchen. With three options it can be tough to know which one will best suit your needs.
First things first, have a look at the mason jar you are planning to use. Our Ergo Spouts are all designed to fit different mason jars, so make sure you choose the right spout according to the size of your existing mason jar. The sizes go as follows:
You will also want to consider the different uses for each product, and the purpose for which they were designed.
This spout is designed for pouring syrups, thick salad dressings, and thick sauces. The flip top cover opens to reveal a large opening that works well for those thicker liquids. It can also handle chunky dressings like blue cheese.
The thumb press also allows a degree of control while pouring that isn’t present with the other spouts. This means you can get the right amount of food from the jar. You won't over pour your syrup and you can dispense the perfect amount of batter for crepes. You might set it out on your table during meals or use it to store leftovers in the refrigerator.
This wide mouth mason jar spout is designed for pouring beverages, thin syrups, and thin sauces. The opening for pouring is smaller than with the Ergo Spout® REGULAR, but the angled slope allows liquids to drip back into the jar. The silicone lid provides an air-tight seal that is ideal for storing, but the sleek lines will look great on your table. It’s fabulous to use when you’re hosting guests.
This mini spout has no handle, and it is designed for pouring melted butter, soy sauce, oil, vinegar, etc. It allows you to season your food without over doing it. The hole is small so the liquids should be very thin and something that you only want to drizzle. You are not going to over pour with this spout.
While considering how each mason jar spout optimally functions is important, it’s more important to consider how you’ll be using your spout at home. What are your eating habits? How often do you serve company? How often do you make homemade syrups, sauces, or salad dressings? Which recipes do you make most often? Would serving or storage become easier with an Ergo Spout?
As noted, the Ergo Spouts are all designed according to different uses, so having a clear understanding will make it easier to decide which to purchase. While you may find some crossover uses between the mason jar spouts, do note that the aforementioned uses are the intended functions according to each Ergo Spout’s unique design.
